The die is cast again! The epic fantasy collaboration that rocked the Chinese mobile gaming market is back for another adventure.

Powered by Yodo1 LicensingTencent and Wizards of the Coast are continuing their IP partnership to forge another experience for Dragonheir: Silent Gods and Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) fans in China. Players will get return to the game for another thrilling quest from May 1st to May 28th.

This is the second Dragonheir IP event, featuring Dungeons & Dragons characters, to make it to players in China. The first event brought legendary character Drizzt Do’Urden to the game, while this new epic unveils an entirely new and more spellbinding challenge: helping famed wizard Elminster defeat a dangerous lich.

Yodo1 Licensing first brought together Dragonheir and D&D in 2023, launching to widespread success across global markets. The collab includes D&D characters, themed storylines, dice skins, Avatar frames, in-game items, and map building.

Dragonheir levels up with a magical crossover event

In this second IP crossover event, Dragonheir raises the stakes and amps up the sorcery. Players learn that the Child of Chaos, whose power now dwells within the

player character, once tried to summon an army of fallen dragons to decimate Adenthia. Many years later, the Order Penultima, ardent followers of the Child of Chaos, plan for his return.

The action kicks off when the player encounters the famed wizard Elminster Aumar, one of the first characters to be developed for the Forgotten Realms campaign setting and discovers that the banished lich (undead sorcerers often featuring as villains in fantasy gaming) Sammaster plans to revive Adenthia’s dragons and attain immeasurable power.

Battles and intrigue ensue, with the epic story culminating in the player character achieving new levels of power for the next instalment of the IP crossover saga.

The event will feature similar mechanics, but bring in new dice skins, Avatar frames, in-game items, and map building options, along with the Elminster team up.

Skynet invades Raid Rush Universe

To create the right story and tone to match Raid Rush’s established universe and mechanics, Yodo1 Licensing helped guide the IP partners toward a shared universe experience.

Raid Rush is a high-octane strategy game set in a science fiction universe, making it a great match for Terminator 2: Judgment Day’s simple yet resonant story of good vs. evil, human vs. machine, and uniting against a nearly invincible enemy.

In the crossover story, Skynet discovers Raid Rush Universe and uses its advanced technology to devise a crushing blow to the human Resistance. John Connor uncovers these plans and sends reprogrammed T-800 Terminator to defend the game Universe.

However, a T-1000, the liquid metal antagonist, brings Sarah Connor and a younger John to Raid Rush Universe.

What follows is an epic addition to Terminator 2: Judgment Day that gives players the chance to play unique campaigns as iconic characters like John Connor, Sarah Connor, and the Terminator himself.

Aside from many in-game rewards and extra content, the IP partnership deepens how players relate to Raid Rush.

Fantasy’s most renowned drow elf join the party

Central to the IP partnership between Dragonheir and D&D is the starring role of Drizzt Do’Urden, one of the most beloved characters from many decades of D&D lore.

Drizzt is a drow elf – a species of elf originally used as villains and antiheroes – who first debuted in R.A. Salvatore’s The Icewind Dale Trilogy over 30 years ago. Mobile games and brands stand at a collaborative inflection point. Mobile games have emerged over the past years as a key stage for brands and IP holders, while developers and publishers look to licensing IPs as a way to expand audiences and retain players.

And the intersection between games and brands is only getting stronger. In 2024, nearly half of the top 200 mobile games in the United States integrated licensed IPs, with this figure exceeding 60% in China and Japan.

Over the course of Yodo1 Licensing’s work with games and brands, we’ve seen staggering success. Including Pacific Rim characters and skins boosted Top War’s DAU’s by 1.5 million in 2020. Game for Peace integrated costumes, vehicles, and other elements from TRANSFORMERS: RISE OF THE BEASTS and saw its revenue increase over 50% over two weeks.

Going beyond the game is an essential strategy for securing a sustainable, scalable legacy in 2025, and will likely remain through the coming years. Game developers and IP licensors should heed the opportunity, but also recognize that there are challenges to overcome.

Why mobile game studios and IP brands should partner up

Mobile games are prime real estate for brands to bring characters and stories to a wider, more engaged audience. At the same time, studios with recognized IP of their own have a lot to gain by mixing their narratives with the gameplay of peer developers and publishers.

Viking Rise x Vikings: Valhalla Event 4 - The Grand Finale of an Epic IP Saga

After three successful IP events, Viking Rise, the popular mobile game from developer I Got Games (IGG), is bringing MGM’s Vikings and Vikings: Valhalla back for a fourth phase of the collaborative saga that united the two epic IPs.

Players will get to experience these two mobile gaming and TV realms collide one final time from March 27th to April 30th, with major elements from the past three phases returning.

Since the beginning, Yodo1 Licensing has guided IGG to not only select MGM’s IP as the right match for its game, but also worked closely with both parties to ensure each brand’s values and virtues are represented and upheld.

The series of IP collaborations has highlighted the mightiest aspects of Viking Rise’s gameplay and stories, while introducing characters, items, skins, and other elements from Vikings and Vikings: Valhalla at the right time for maximum engagement and fun.

New Vikings enter the fray

The upcoming event will features elements from previous phases in the IP collaboration and introduces new characters, items, and rewards.

Players will finally get to unlock Vikings heroes Athelstan the Noble Advisor, Heahmund, and Sigurd as playable characters or skins. Heahmund and Sigurd will be joining the game with the brand new skins Crusader Heahmund and the Valiant Warrior Sigurd.

This is the first time these specific characters will appear in mobile game collaboration. While most of the characters that have crossed over from the TV show into the mobile game are popular, this final event stands out for highlighting more niche characters that bring their own charm to the game, adding further depth and variety to the story and gameplay.

The event will also feature fan and player favorites Leif Eriksson, Freydis Eriksdotter , Harald Sigurdsson, Rollo, Ragnar, Bjorn, Lagertha , and. Floki, giving players the chance to enjoy the most expansive cast of Vikings yet.

Rewards on the road the Valhalla

Alongside new and returning characters, players will also cash in on a reward system building on their experience throughout the entire collaborative saga.

Players entering the final phase will earn “Einherjar Medals” in redeeming sub-events that can be exchanged for IP items from the entire series, including castle skins, decors, avatar frames, and thematic chat bubbles.

This mechanic is designed to delight new players and reward those who’ve stuck around since the first collaborative event. Hosted in collaboration with Gameunited as part of the Yodo1 IP Roadshow in Beijing, the event provided a platform to advance IP integration across the mobile gaming landscape.

Leading developers, including Wanda Cinema Game, Hero Entertainment,  gathered to share their expertise on IP-driven strategies that deepen content engagement and boost player retention. By showcasing best practices in IP integration, these companies shared how strategic brand partnerships can enrich the gaming experience, enhance storytelling, and significantly heighten user engagement.

Bi Sheng, General Manager of Wanda Cinema Game’s Overseas Publishing, emphasized that  in-depth understanding of the IP is essential for a successful integration, sharing insights from the launch of Saint Seiya: Legend of Justice. The forum emphasized the importance of IPs as immersive elements, rather than surface-level brand additions, reinforcing how they improve the storyline and player engagement. More than ever before, developers are capitalizing on top-tier IPs to craft compelling experiences that also drive higher monetization.
